Fix microphone problems

If Fraze can't hear your voice, or says Microphone access was denied, go through these checks in order.

Which computer are you using?

Allow microphone access in Windows

  1. Open Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.

  2. Turn on Microphone access, Let apps access your microphone, and Let desktop apps access your microphone.

  2. Find Fraze in the list and turn it on.

  3. Quit Fraze and open it again.

Pick the right microphone

  1. Click the word on the left of the dark pill (System, Mic, or Mix) to open the Audio source menu.

  2. Make sure Microphone is checked, then pick your microphone in the list under it. System default uses the one your computer is set to. If you use a headset, pick it by name.

Check the microphone itself

Make sure it isn't muted. Many headsets have a mute switch or button.

Close other apps that may be using the microphone, like another call app, and try again.

If Fraze says No microphone was found, plug the microphone in again, or pick a different one in the list.

Want to caption sound from your computer?

The microphone is for voices in the room. To caption a video or call that plays on your computer, turn on System audio instead.
