Does Fraze work fully offline?
Yes. Once the models are downloaded, live transcription and translation make no network call at all, so Fraze keeps working with Wi-Fi off. Lifetime works offline forever, monthly for up to 30 days between plan checks, and the free 30 minutes are counted locally.
Can it translate any audio playing on my computer in real time?
Yes. Fraze captures system audio or the microphone, and shows live captions with translated subtitles under them, in a small window that can float over your call or video. Speech recognition and translation both run on your machine, so no audio goes to a cloud service.
Does a bot join my Zoom, Teams or Google Meet call?
No. Fraze listens to the sound your computer is already playing, so it works with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and any other meeting tool. The host does not have to turn anything on, and you do not need a paid Zoom or Teams plan. If you want a private, local alternative to cloud note takers such as Otter.ai, that is the difference: the transcript is made and kept on your computer.
Can I get live translated subtitles on Windows 11 without a Copilot+ PC?
That is what Fraze for Windows is for. Windows Live Captions only translates on Copilot+ PCs. Fraze needs Windows 11 on an x64 PC with a 4-core AVX2 CPU and 8 GB of RAM, and captions any audio the PC plays. Get it from the Microsoft Store.
Is there a per-minute charge?
No. After the free 30 minutes you pay $29.99 once or $2.99 a month, and both are unlimited. Hours of foreign-language streams or back-to-back meetings cost nothing extra, because the work happens on your computer and not on our servers.
Do I need an account?
No. The first 30 minutes are free on each computer, with no account and no card. An account is optional: it lets a plan bought on this website follow you to your other computers, and it never sees your audio or transcripts. Every connection the app can make is listed on this page.
Which languages does it support?
Fraze transcribes 31 languages on Mac and Windows: 25 European ones, including English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Ukrainian, plus Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Thai. Translation covers about 50 languages to or from English, and goes through English when a pair needs it.
How fast are the captions?
Captions land about half a second to a second after a speaker pauses, and translation adds about a tenth of a second. Those are estimates from our own measurements of each step on the minimum supported hardware.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, both plans are refundable within 14 days of purchase, tax included.
