Fraze help

Choose what Fraze listens to

Fraze can listen to sound playing on your computer, to your microphone, or to both. Picking the right one is the most important setting in Fraze.

Open the audio source menu

  1. Click the word on the left of the dark pill (System, Mic, or Mix) to open the Audio source menu.

  2. The menu has two options. Click an option to turn it on or off. A check mark means it's on.

The source can't change while Fraze is listening. Stop first, change it, then start again.

Which one to pick

System audio: sound playing on your computer. Use it for Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls, YouTube, online classes, and podcasts.

Microphone: your own voice, or people talking in the same room. Use it for in-person conversations and lectures you attend in person.

Both: calls where you also speak. Fraze captions the other people and you.

Using both at once

  1. Check both options. The pill now says Mix.

What Fraze starts with

Fraze starts with System audio on and the microphone off, so the pill says System. Turn on Microphone when you want to caption voices in the room.

Choosing a microphone

  1. When Microphone is on, a list of your microphones appears under it. System default uses the one your computer is set to. If you use a headset, pick it by name.
